Recycle old coffee and grounds

Have you ever wondered about what you could  possibly do with your used coffee grounds, other than throwing them in the bin?

Here’s a few ways you can recycle your old coffee:-

Compost
Coffee grounds can be added to your compost bin, helping to increase the acidity of the soil. They also act as a natural fertiliser, but be careful not to add too many coffee grounds as you don’t want to end up with compost that is too acidic.

Pot plants
A little bit of acidity goes a long way with a pot plant, so tip some old grounds or the remains of your black coffee onto your pot plants. Tip: plants aren’t fond of milk or sugar so only do this with black coffee.

Ant repellant
Ants hate coffee, and apparently will not cross a line of coffee grounds. So, pour some of your old coffee grounds where the ants have been driving you crazy, and it will help to get rid of them.

Hair rinse
Leftover coffee can be used as a hair rinse for dark hair. Yes, it sounds weird, but if you use coffee as a final hair rinse it will add a super shine to your locks.

Face mask
Mix a handful of used coffee grounds with a bit of water or cream in a bowl, and stir to form a paste. Pat the mixture onto clean, dry skin, avoiding the mouth, eyes and nose area. Sit and relax with your favourite magazine for about 15 minutes then rinse off. Beautiful skin!

Odour neutraliser
If you place some old coffee grounds in a particularly smelly place it will actually help to neutralise the odour. Examples of this would be at the bottom of a garbage bag or in the cat litter tray.
